Move Weekly Recap

3/29 Sunday: off
3/30 Monday: 3.5 miles track
3/31 Tuesday: off
4/1 Wednesday: 3.3 miles with stroller and evening Yoga at the YMCA
4/2 Thursday: evening Yoga at the YMCA
4/3 Friday: 4 miles track
4/4 Saturday: 4 miles outdoors

I had a lot of fun and changed things up a bit this week. Now, that I have been able to get outside with the jogging stroller, I am having a harder time mentally on the track. I watch the weather on my phone like a hawk so I can plan out my running for the week and how and where it is going to get done. If I know there is a nice day coming up, I plan my other runs around when I’ll be using the stroller.

The stroller is also awesome because I don’t take the kids to the gym. So, Wednesday I was able to run in the morning and take Yoga in the evening because my kids hadn’t already been at the gym to play that day. It worked out perfect because the Thursday night instructor I like was substituting for Wednesday night, as well.

On Thursday, I took the kids to the Zoo and then swung by Right Fit Running on my way home for a new pair of shoes. I currently have 230+ miles on my Mizuno Wave Inspire 11 running shoes and as you know, I absolutely love that shoe! In addition to the 11, I have run in the Wave Inspire 9 & 10 as well, the 10 being my least favorite of the three. I have had zero injury in these shoes and my foot feels supported when I run. I do get some gnarly toes from push off but no blisters, hot feet or other running problems that might be associated with running in the wrong shoe.

However, my husband is a Brooks lover so, he thought I should try another shoe brand for fun as I get closer to the 300 mile mark in my Mizuno shoes (a point when we usually get a new pair). So, I went into Right Fit Running and talked to Michael about a stability Brooks shoe. I told him a little about my running history, the shoes I currently run in, and other miscellaneous information about my running. I was open to purchasing a new pair of Wave Inspire shoes, as well. If I wanted to go Brooks, he suggested I try the Brooks Ravenna 6  or the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 15. After trying both shoes by walking around the store, I knew immediately the Ravenna was not right for me and the Adrenaline felt great right of the bat.

As my kids destroyed the store (at one point they were carrying mannequin body parts around), I purchased the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 15 and took them for their first run on the track on Friday. To me, Brooks has more cushioning but I feel slightly less support for my high arch. Overall, I think I will really like the shoe and it will be fun to note the differences.

I took the Brooks out on Saturday for a bike trail run with my husband, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law and the shoes felt great then, too. I still won’t part with my Mizunos, just yet!

Are you particular to one shoe or one shoe brand?

I ran in Adrenalines for YEARS but switched to the Ravennas just a few years ago…good luck with the switch!

Thanks, Jessie! I felt a little guilty even trying a Brooks shoe after running in Mizuno for so long! Hopefully, I am equally happy with the Brooks and it’s more shoe to love!

I’m curious how the switch continues to go for you! Sounds like we have similar feet.
